Common Mistakes to Avoid When Planting CBD Seed In MarylandAugust 28, 2020
CBD and Hemp News In Texas: Smokeable Hemp UpdateAugust 31, 2020
With more and more farmers joining the hemp industry in New York, it’s important to understand the differences in cultivation requirements when it comes to growing industrial hemp vs. CBD-rich hemp. Both require the same licensing and are subject to the 0.3% THC limit enforced by the federal regulations. When it comes to growing hemp for CBD production, it can be easy to make some of these common mistakes. Here are three mistakes for beginner hemp farmers to avoid when planting CBD seed.
What Mistakes to Avoid for Planting CBD Seed In New York
- Cultivating with deprived soil: Hemp plants require a comprehensive cultivation plan in order to succeed. NPK or nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium are considered essential macronutrients for growing cannabis. Furthermore, nutrient requirements are all based on what strains you’re looking to grow. Make sure to do your research, test your soil, and ensure that your soil is also light and airy.
- Poor germination technique: Don’t let your grow season fail before you even get started. While we do recommend planting your seeds directly into your soil, make sure that you’re properly germinating your seeds beforehand. Keep your CBD seeds clean from debris and contaminants and make sure they are in a humid (not wet) environment between the temperatures of 71 to 77 degrees.
- Wrong hemp seed or poor quality genetics: Industrial hemp seed will be significantly less expensive, however, they are not meant for CBD production. Make sure to always purchase CBD seed that’s been bred for this purpose and to check respective COAs. Do your research in finding the right supplier.
